The 2018 World Series of Poker continues to see event after event finish up at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino of Las Vegas. The series has been fruitful for some, while others have had to settle for finishing outside the money bubble. Event #31 was one of the most recent poker tournaments to finish up, with 310 players participating. In the end, it was Steven Albini who earned the victory, outlasting top pros to claim the first-place win.
The final table of the $1,500 Seven-Card Stud tournament would see three WSOP winners at the felt, and not just any winners, but players who have earned multiple gold bracelets, including Chris Ferguson. According to the WSOP, during the first stage, Ferguson held the chip lead, but Albini would eventually earn a huge cut from his stack, taking over as the chip leader. With the lead, Albini was able to hold on and eventually make it to the final two.
In the end, Albini faced off against Jeff Lisandro in heads-up play. The final round saw the two have pretty even chip stacks. Heads-up continued for around two hours before Albini took the final lead. Lisandro was all-in with 40,000 and Albini called. Lisandro showes 6-2 of hearts /Q-J-4-10/9 with Albinin holding 10-9 off-suit/ A-4-2-10/J. Albini stayed ahead with the Ace-high and earned his first gold bracelet, knocking Lisandro out of the competition in second place.
